Joining Studio Calico

I've decided to say Happy Holidays to myself and joined the Studio Calico monthly kit club. I've been admiring this club for the past year and check out their blog on a daily basis. I finally made the plunge and am eagerly awaiting my first month's kit.

Here's a picture of January's Whodunit kit. Very cute!

Layout made with the Webster's Pages kit from the ScrapRoom:

Layout made with the Jillibean Soup kit from the ScrapRoom:

December ScrapRoom kit

PINK PAISLEE MISTLETOE & CO
MAKING MEMORIES MISTLETOE
JILLIBEAN SOUP GRANDMAS’ CHRISTMAS SOUP
WEBSTER’S PAGES HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

This kit arrived a few weeks ago, but I didn't start cutting into it until yesterday! Such beautiful papers this month, most are 2-sided and both sides are gorgeous! So hard to figure out how to best utilize both sides.

Crafty Christmas Decor

Thanks to a post from Wendy Smedley I tried my hand at a little crafty home decor for the holidays. I did not use nice Christmas paper because I didn't want to waste any in case I couldn't pull it off. I used what I had on hand and I had a lot of this American Crafts flower paper. I think now that I see that I CAN do it, I may have to invest in $6 worth of fancy Christmas paper and make another.

Here Comes Santa Claus

I finally got this scrapped, it's been brewing in my head and scrap area and I finally ignored a meeting that was going on and created it! The inspiration came from the simple chipboard piece "Believe" and I was able to find the mojo to print off some supporting pictures for my daughters first year really believing in Santa.

I used the Dec08 kit from Scenic Route that I recently purchased thanks to the birthday bash sale (I'm a new member in 2009). I love Scenic Route and will miss their products.

Friday and Monday Layouts

I didn't get much scrapped this weekend, been busy with a friend being in town.

I created this layout for the blog challenge over at the Scrap Room - Week 48

And this one was lifted off of Julie Bonner's blog, I loved the title and the music note paper, I just had to make one about Zoe. Love love loved Julie's page!

Daily December 2009 - Day One

I decided at the last minute yesterday to jump on board the Daily December album train. (More information at Ali Edwards Blog). I'm using a 6x6 Bazzill Cover All album that allows you to bind 3 groups of pages. I had to add a few extra pages in order to have enough for the month of December. Each day will be a 2 page 6x6 spread. I had a Making Memories Falala project pad stashed away from an after holiday sale last year and decided that would be a good start. I may or may not add other product lines to this album, I'm not sure how matchy-matchy I want it to be just yet.

My own design

Finally, I have one of my own to post. No challenge, just a story I wanted to tell and when I found the ABC strip in this month's Cosmo Cricket kit, it was time to make the layout for the story.

Log Your Memory book

I purchased this book after seeing it on Ali Edwards (and I believe Cathy Zielske also spotlighted it?) blog. Log Your Memory. I purchased the 2010 coil bound book and the December 2009 coil bound journal. They just arrived today and wow, these are so very awesome! Take a minute and check out her blog and the sample book pages. For when you can't be at your scrapdesk, this is an awesome way to stay connected and jot down your inspirations all the time.

I'm so excited to start using mine!

November Scrap Room Kit Arrives!

November kit of the month from The ScrapRoom:

Cosmo Cricket Earth Love
Crate Paper Seasons
Pebbles Lil' Miss
BoBunny Flutter Butter

Here's what I've created so far with each of them:

Cosmo Cricket kit was used for a sketch challenge at Let's Scrap:

Pebbles Lil' Miss kit was used for a favorites challenge at the Scrap Room:
BoBunny Flutter Butter was also used for a Favorites challenge at The Scrap Room:
And finally, I used the Crate Paper Seasons kit for the 52 Sketches...52 Weeks sketch challenge this week. I think this is one of my favorites. I love white space but have such a hard time doing it unless I'm following a sketch. This was a beautiful sketch in action. It turned out to be such a fun layout and since it was really the story I wanted to tell, not necessarily the pictures I wanted to highlight, it worked out well.

Redesigned Work Area

Here's the basics of my newly designed work area. I needed to update what I had because I'm now working from home full time and needed a better solution to be able to be at my work desk while having bits and pieces of time throughout my work day to work on projects (or at least be close to my happy place if work is too busy). Please don't look too closely at my mess!

This is the hub of where I spend my time from 5am to roughly 5pm, with a lunch break to go pick up Zoe:

And this is to the left of my desk area.

And this is the big shot of the large Ikea bookcase that moved from the wall I sit against now to the half wall, looking over the stairway.

The ScrapRoom Blog Challenge

This one was created for the blog challenge over at the ScrapRoom blog. The idea was to use a black and white photo. I've had this little beauty shot in my yearly favorites folder since January and love how the layout turned out!

I saw an ad from BoBunny in a recent CK magazine and jotted down a quick sketch of the layout. I used some recently acquired clearance Scenic Route products from my LSS. So very sad to see that they are going out of business.

Friday night layouts

Dave went out with a friend tonite, so I got into my scrappy zone and completed my 2 page layout for the month sketch and another favorites challenge.

Layouts from Sunday

Another favorites challenge. I picked up a fun new technique by lifting this layout - using the black sharpie to outline my cardstock. I've always admired this technique and finally I have a layout of my own using this!

This was done for the weekly blog challenge at The ScrapRoom. The idea was to mix up the font of the title. I used different fonts plus added in some buttons for the "o's" in "Pool".
